Privacy Policy

The Fifty is run by CropClickCanvas, based in India. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

The short version

  • You can browse without an account. We never ask visitors who they are.
  • If you sign in with Google, we get your name, email address, account ID and profile photo. Your email is never shown publicly.
  • Whatever you post (your project, your builder profile) is public. That's the point of the board.
  • No ads, no advertising cookies, and we don't sell or rent your data.
  • Ask us to remove your entry or delete your data at any time: nsaralaya@cropclickcanvas.com.

What we collect

If you only browse

  • A random visitor ID stored in your browser, so a view or an open is counted once per browser. Our database keeps that random ID with the week's board. It isn't linked to your name or account.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase) processes your IP address and browser details to deliver pages and keep the service secure.
  • Analytics, when switched on: Google Analytics 4 with advertising features off. In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics cookies are off by default and only anonymous, cookieless measurements are sent. Details on the Cookies page.

If you sign in with Google

  • From Google: your name, email address, Google account ID and profile photo address. We never see your Google password.
  • What you post (public): project title, one-line description, links, the maker name you give, and the week and spot it took.
  • Your builder profile (public, only if you create one): handle, name, headline, links, your Google photo if you choose to show it, and whether you're open to opportunities.
  • 馃檶 reactions: stored with your account ID so each person can give one per project. Only the totals are public.

If you send a "Work with us" request

Your name, email, company, message and (for sponsors) the week you asked for. Only our admins and you can see a request.

Projects we add ourselves

To start a board, we sometimes add projects we found in public places (for example GitHub or Hacker News), with the maker's public name and a public link. We then message the maker. If that's you and you'd rather not be listed, tell us and we remove it, normally the same day.

Why we use it

  • To run the board: show entries, give each maker a spot, count views, opens and 馃檶, and keep past weeks as an archive.
  • To keep it fair: one entry per person per week, one 馃檶 per person per project, and reviewing posts before they go live.
  • To contact you about your entry, your claim link, or a request you sent.
  • To understand, in aggregate, which pages are used, so we can improve the site.

We rely on your consent when you sign in, post or send a request (you can withdraw it by asking us to delete your data), and on our legitimate interest in running a secure, fair service for the counting and logs above.

AI tools

We use AI tools to research and check public project pages (see How we pick). We don't feed your email address or other private account data into AI tools, and we don't use your data to train AI models.

Who else processes it

  • Google (Firebase Hosting, Authentication and Cloud Firestore) hosts the site and stores the data for us. The database is in Google Cloud's Mumbai region (asia-south1). Pages are delivered worldwide through Google's network.
  • Google Analytics, when switched on, as described above.
  • Authorities, only if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Boards are a permanent record, so entries stay in the archive unless you ask us to remove yours.
  • Account, profile and request data stay until you ask us to delete them.
  • Random visitor IDs stay with the board they were counted on. Hosting logs are kept by Google for a limited period.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or withdraw your consent. Write to nsaralaya@cropclickcanvas.com from the email address on your account. We reply within 30 days. This applies wherever you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the EU/UK GDPR. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to your data protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board of India).

Age

You must be 18 or older to sign in, post or send a request.

Changes and contact
